He graduated Central High School 1955, then joining the Marine Corps in 1956 and was discharged in 1960. He had worked at Lake City Ammunition Plant until joining the Kansas City Police Department in 1965.
He retired from the Kansas City MO Police force in 1992 after 27 years of service. A member of the Police Benefit Association and KCPD Retired Employees Association.
In recent years, Kent made it his personal mission to contact fellow retirees nationwide whenever a member of their group died. He was also an active member of the Horseshoe Club of Kansas City, MO and a member of Antioch Community Church.
Preceded in death by his father, Marshall, and father-in-law, Wayne Trautwein.
Survived by his loving wife, Sharon; 5 children, 14 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter; his mother, Bonita Armstrong; sister, Marcia Presley; mother-in-law, Fern Trautwein and his faithful dog, Mitzi.
