Sheboygan Press, Apr. 16, 2002, Kenneth G. Baus, 68, of Marytown, died Sunday morning, April 14, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton after a short, courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Feb. 22, 1934 in Marytown, a son of the late Alfred “Fritz” and Mary Schwind Baus. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic grade school in Marytown, graduate from New Holstein High School with the class of 1952 and attended Delay Tech School in Chicago and the University of Oshkosh. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Ken was married to the former Rosemary B. Engel on Nov. 28, 1957. After their marriage the couple lived in Kiel where he was employed by H.G. Weber Co. and Stoelting Bros. Co., for 25 years. The couple moved to Marytown in 1989 where he worked at the Damrow Co. Inc. and then retired from the Alliance Equipment Mfg., both of Fond du Lac. In his younger years Ken was Vice President and President of the Kiel Jaycees. His interest in rifle shooting brought him to join the Kiel Rifle and Pistol Club and upon moving to Marytown he joined the Fond du Lac Rifle and Pistol Club. Ken was a lifetime member of the NRA and enjoyed traveling around the state while attending numerous competitions. His other passion was dartball. Ken played with the Marytown dartball team as a charter member and past secretary. He also was a past Vice President of the Marytown Veteran Assoc. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Marytown. Ken is survived by his wife, Rosemary of Marytown; one son, Ronald (Deirdre) Baus of Oak Creek; four daughters, Lois (Rod) Van Gordon of Harrah, Okla., Diana Miller of Rockingham, N.C., Margie (Tony) Crawford of Sheboygan, and Cathy (Pat) Beck of Glendale; nine grandchildren, Phillip and Samuel Van Gordon of Norman, Okla., Natalie Miller of Chapel Hill, N.C., Scott and Kayla Crawford, Mariah and Christian Beck, and Fiona and Nevan Baus; his loving sisters, Ceil (George) Loehr, Rose Michels, and Ruth (Gerald) Steffen, all of Fond du Lac, Betty Lees of Savannah Ga., and Mary (Warren) Schlueter of Santa Barbara Calif.; sister-in-law, Pat Baus of Fond du Lac; his mother-in-law, Rose Engel (Walter) Meyer of Kiel in addition to his numerous brother and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel and Anthony J. Baus and his father-in-law, Norbert J. Engel. Visitation will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marytown on Wednesday, April 17 from 4 until 7:30 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday evening at the Church at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Coerber, pastor, officiating. Entombment will be Thursday morning, April 18 at the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Fond du Lac. A memorial fund has been established in his name for Calumet County Home Health Care and Hospice. The Huss Funeral Home of St. Cloud is serving the family.
