DEATH OF AN OLD PIONEER.Died--On the morning of June 16th, 1878, at his residence in Strongsville, Appollus southworth, in the 86th year of his age. Mr Southworth was an early settler in the above town, cutting and clearing away the wilderness with an untiring industry that has characterized the pioneers of the West.

He was born in the town of Stoughton, Massachusetts, Nov 16th 1792, where his early life was spent. He was a soldier in the war of 1812; his reigment being stationed on fort Warren, off Boston Harbor, to watch British movements and to cover the city of Boston from attack. At the expiration of his term of service he was honorably discharged.

In the fall of '16 he journeyed through a wild and almost trackless country to Ohio, located land in Strongsville, and in the succeeding autumn returned to his native town. In February following, after making the necessary preparations consequent upon a long journey and the life of a pioneer, he returned to Strongsville, where he resided until his death.
