FOUNTAIN INN, SC - May 11 - Marvin Dolphus Armstrong, 60, employee of the South Carolina Tax Commission, died at Veterans Hospital in Columbia Monday afternoon following one year of declining health.
He was a son of the late J. T. and Anna Abercrombie Armstrong and was born in Laurens County. He formerly lived in Gray Court and was married to the former Miss Marie Curry, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Marvin Douglas, Salt Lake City, Utah; James Robert, Columbia; three brothers, C. C., Gray Court; Talmadge, Greenville; Fred, Charlotte, North Carolina; a sister, Miss Dewey Armstrong, Gray Court, and four grandchildren.
Mr. Armstrong was a member of the American Legion and Main Street Methodist Church of Columbia.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Dials Methodist Church by Dr. W. B. Garrett and the Rev. R. J. Bringman. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body is in Columbia and will be returned to the Dials Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Thursday. Cannon Funeral Home will have charge of services here.
