He came to this county with his parents in early life and while quite young was married to Miss Gilmore, sister of William Gilmore, of near Houston. To this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Jane Amburn, of Oscar. A few years after his first wife's death in November, 1882, he was married to Miss Annie Locker, to which union four children were born -- Mrs. John West, of Solo, Adelia, Ollie, and Wilson. He also leaves three brothers and one sister -- S.A. Dixon, Raymondville, J.M. Dixon, Yukon. H.P. Dixon, Cordell, Okla., and Mrs. J.M. Holman, of Eulah, Tenn.
His sad and unexpected death has been an awful shock to the community. He was a man who was always kind to the sick and afflicted, always paid his debts and he will be greatly missed. His heart-broken family have the sympathy of everybody.
The remains were laid to rest in Ozark cemetery the 8th; T.L. Hays conducted the funeral services. A large crowd attended the funeral, although it rained incessantly all day.
