"L. J. Eckler, merchant at Kalkaska, is a native of Oakland County, Mich. In 1862 he enlisted in Company G, Sixth Michigan Cavalry, and was in service until the close of the war in 1865. In the spring of 1882 he went to Westwood from Ionia County, and engaged in the mercantile business.
