William Richard Blalock came to Texas with his parents, Charles and Francis C. Harris Blalock, arriving on New Year's Day, 1852. They lived in the Myrtle Springs community, 4 miles north of Quitman in Wood County,Texas. He married Lettie Louise Willingham, daughter of C.B. Willingham, in 1865. He served in the Confederate Army. He was Precinct 1 County Commissioner from 1884-1892 and served as County Tax Collector for 5 yrs. from Feb. 12, 1894. He served in the Texas Legislature from Wood County for 2 terms beginning in 1905. He was the father of Richard Lee, Martha, Lula, Virgil C., George, J. Albert, Willie May, and Edward. Several other children died in the early years. He was my great-grandfather.
