Robert "Bob" Lee Fretwell, 71, of Front Royal, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011, in the Winchester Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Randolph Macon Academy conducted by Chaplain Chad Hrbek. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at Randolph Macon Academy.
Mr. Fretwell was born November 6, 1940 in Williamstown, Missouri, son of the late Roby Ellery and Adeline Ham Fretwell.
He was a program manager for Computer Sciences Corporation and Burroughs Corporation.
Mr. Fretwell graduated from Keokuk High School in Keokuk, Iowa. He received his B.A. and M.S. from the University of Iowa. He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and taught at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. He volunteered at the Front Royal Visitor Center and as a concierge at the Warren County Government Center. He enjoyed wood crafting, coin and stamp collecting, U.S. military history, and world travel.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Connie Rae Kuelper Fretwell; three children, Rachel Sue Pierce of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and her husband Rick, Stephanie Ann Fretwell of Front Royal, and Julia Kay Eppard of Lorton and her husband Chris; a brother, Richard Fretwell of Mission Viejo, California; four grandchildren, Andrea McDonald, Julia McDonald, Jake Eppard, and Anna Eppard; and two great-grandchildren, Alexandria Harrington and Rachel Harrington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Cecil Fretwell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bob's childhood church, Providence Baptist Church, 20294 State Hwy. E., Williamstown, MO 63473 where he will be interred.
Services are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home.
