Wendell Clayton Epley, 84, of Green Forest, Ark., died Saturday, Oct. 16, in his home. Born June 10, 1915 in the Denver community of Carroll County, Ark., he was a son of Stephen Sephus and Dematis Lawrence) Epley.

Mr. Epley was a farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church in Green Forest.

Survivors include: his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and July Epley of Alpena, Ark.; his daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Gene Allen of Hereford, Texas; three grandchildren, Sheila and her husband Tim Ogier of Alpena, Michelle and her husband Bob Mathern of Riverton, Wyo. and Mike Allen of Tracy, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Lisa Ogier of Alpena, Ark., Delayne Renner of Casper, Wyo. and Seth Mathern of Riverton, Wyo.; three brothers, Elton Epley of Green Forest, H.C. Epley of Burns, Ore. and Jimmy Joe Epley of Marshall, Ark.; two sisters, Evelyn Evans of Portland, Ore. and Halene Marriott of Green Forest; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Martha (Petitt) Epley; his brother Buell Epley; his sister, Vida Tharp and infant sisters, Norma Jean, Shirley Faye and Linda Lou Epley.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 19 at the Nelson Chapel in Green Forest with Rev. Dean Smith and Rev. Philip Tolstad officiating. Interment was in the Pickens Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home.
