Son to Jacob L Lones & Jane Hickey & Husband to Sarah E CoxWilliam is the son of Jacob Lonas and Jane Hickey. He married Virginia Clay Ruley, daughter of William N. Ruley and Elizabeth Henritz, on 27 October 1870 in Knox Co. William fought in the Confederate Army. He enlisted in Captain Hardy's Company, Co. E, Confederate Army. He attended Maryville College, Mossy Creek College and University of Tenn. After 1865, William went to California with his brother who had been a 49er. He returned in 1867. Three years later he married Virginia Ruley. He was a member of Erin Presbyterian Church at Bearden. Fire Station, No. 12, Kingston Pike, was erected upon the site furnished by William B. Lonas. In Jacob's will he states that his son Wiliam be well educated with money from his estate. William died at age 95.
