Norbert Gottlieb Schwab, born August 13, 1923, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 20, at the age of 88 years. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gertrude Kathleen Haecker Schwab who he married on January 24, 1942 in Seguin, Guadalupe County, Texas; son, Robert L. Schwab and wife Linda; daughter, Norma Jentsch and husband Elroy.
He was known as "Opie" to seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Grandchildren are Tina Bertsch and husband Mark, Becky Jentsch, Jessica Hansmann, Robin Toepperwein, Meagan Moore and husband Wes, Lara Busa and Randy Schwab. Great Grandchildren are Mark Bertsch, Jr., Tanner Cook, Cody Hansmann, Ashleigh Toepperwein, Madelyn Hansmann, John Moore, Joseph Moore, Claire Busa and Noah Busa.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Bryan and Willard and one daughter, Beatrice. Norbert was born in Schertz, Texas and retired from Mission Valley Mills. Norbert was a member of Knights of Columbus 4182, Past Grand Knight 1963-64 and 1997-98. He was also Past Faithful Navigator of Assembly 1791 from 1997-98. For many years he was the head of Bingo Operations for Knights of Columbus.
