Rev. George Lentz, a retired United Brethren in Christ minister, died on Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. L. G. Bowman, High St. and Lincoln Avenue, Park Place, from general debility at the age of 84 years. Rev. Lentz was a native of Lebanon county and up to the time of his coming to his daughter here, two years ago, continued his residence on the Lentz farm at Hamlin. Strongly grounded in Christian principles, convictions and experiences, especially revival, Rev. Lentz was licensed to preach In the ministry of the United Brethren church at the age of 25 years and he continued an active exponent of the Christian cause up to the time of his retirement a comparatively few years ago.
An Active Worker.
After preaching in the local field for a time Rev. Lentz served the Greenpolnt charge for several years and covering a period of many years he was a lay delegate in the East
Pennsylvania Conference. As a member of the U. B. church, Fredericksburg, he was deeply interested in the work of both the congregation and Sunday school. With the taking up of his residence here Rev. Lentz identified himself with the Men's Bible class of the Trinity U. B church.
Son and Two Daughters.
He was a widower and leaves a son, Jacob L. Lentz, of South Lebanon township, and two daughters, Mrs. Sarah L. Behm, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. L. O. Bowman, this city.
Funeral on Wednesday.
The funeral will he held on Wednesday, noon, at 12.30 o'clock, with services at the Bowman residence, followed by further services at Wolf's meeting house, where interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery.
