Pvt. George Engel of the military Police is now in Germany. He says the eats are good and that the weather is a lot like we have here in Wisconsin.

Pfc. George F. (sic) Engel is home on furlough from service with the 214th M.P. Company in Europe. He has the meritorious service wreath and five Battle Stars to his credit.

George E. Engel, Minneapolis, 42, died Wednesday, Jan 11, at Eitel Hospital at Minneapolis after an illness of three weeks.

Son of George and Johanna (Brown) Engel he was born on March 2, 1924 at Clear Lake and attended Clear Lake pubic schools. He graduated from Clear Lake high school in 1942.

Entering the Army on March 13, 1943, he served with the 214th Military Police company. He was honorably discharged from the armed forces on Nov. 5, 1945.

After four years on the family farm at Clear Lake engaged in farm management training, he was employed in St. Paul several years and for the past six years was an inventory control clerk for Farnhams, Inc. in Minneapolis.

He is survived by four brothers, Walter of Chicago, Wilbert and Clifford, both of Hammond and Robert of St. Paul; four sisters Mrs. Bertha Brown of Minneapolis, Mrs. Ward (Evelyn) Wilson of Amery, Elsa Engel and Mrs. Karl (Irene) Hahn both of St. Paul.

He was preceded in death by his father on Oct. 2 1943, his mother on Jan. 26, 1963 and his brother John on July 28, 1964.

Funeral services were Saturday Jan. 14 at Kramer Funeral Home in Hudson with the Rev. Eugene L. Peterson, pastor of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Baldwin officiating.

During the service Charles Anderson sang "Softly and Tenderly" and "God Will Take Care of You" accompanied by Mrs. Douglas Fyksen at the organ. Interment was in Clear Lake Cemetery at Clear Lake.

Military rites were conducted at the cemetery by the Wiley Davis Post No. 108 of Clear Lake. Co workers from Farnhams serving as pallbearers were Jack Bird, Walter Lewandowski, Robert Baker, Clark Belford, Gordon Bloom and Clifford Bloom.
