REEDSVILE, Ohio - Benjamin F Upton, 84, of Reedsville, died Thursday, September 25, 2003, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio.
He was born July 14, 1919, in Leon, West Virginia, son of the late Watson Everett and Lizzie Mae Keefer Upton.
He was a retired mechanic for Eastern High School. He was also a member of the Tuppers Plains VFW Post No. 9053, and attended South Bethel Community Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Iva Upton; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Homer Cole of Reedsville; a son, Benjamin "Benny" Upton, and his special friend, Linda Williams of Marietta, Ohio; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry and Savanna Upton of Leon, and Marion and Mary Agnes Upton of Scott Depot, West Virginia; five grandchildren; and a special aunt, Sylvia "Pete" Keffer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Bette Chaffee; a brother, Harold; and an infant brother.
Services will be 1 pm Sunday, September 28, 2003, at the White Funeral Home in Coolville, Ohio, with Pastor Linda Damewood officiating. Burial will follow at Meigs Memory Gardens in Pomeroy, Ohio, where military graveside rites will be conducted by Tuppers Plains VFW Post 9053.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Saturday, September 27, 2003, at the funeral home.
