Walter Foss (Sr.), son of William Foss, Sr. (1673 - 1718) and Sarah Buswell (1676 - 1717), and twin brother of William, was born January 1707/8 at Hampton Falls, Rockingham, New Hampshire Colony. On 13 September 1726 at Greenland, Rockingham County, New Hampshire Colony, he married Sarah Babb (born 18 September 1711 Hampton Falls, Rockingham, New Hampshire Colony), daughter of Peter Babb and Sarah Cate. They had eleven known children. Walter Foss (Jr.) died 9 December 1791 at Saco, York County, Maine, United States

The children of Walter Foss (Sr.) and Sarah Babb were:
1.Walter Foss, Jr. (12 June 1727 Greenland, Rockingham, New Hampshire - 9 December 1791 Scarborough, Cumberland, Maine)
2.Levi Foss (1729 Dover, Strafford, New Hampshire - 30 April 1779 Albany, Albany, New York)
3.James Foss (16 August 1730 Scarborough, Cumberland, Maine - 21 July 1804 Saco, York, Maine)

--------------------------------------------------

The earliest ancestor in this branch of the Foss family was Walter Foss (Sr.),of Biddeford, Massachusetts, which was incorporated the fourth town in November, 1718. In 1762, it was divided and that portion of it lying on the east side of the Saco River was incorporated under the name of Peperellboro, and later, in 1805, changed to Saco.

Walter Foss and his wife, Sarah, were living in Biddeford as early as 1730. The taxlist of 1755 shows that his home was on the east side of the river, and his name is given as the eleventh in a list of twelve who paid the highest rates.

Walter took part in King George's war--he and Thomas--probably a brother--being enlisted in Capt.George Berry's company which belonged to Col. Waldo's regiment, and took part in the campaign for the capture of Louisburg,--the French stronghold in America. The fort was taken June 17, 1745. The old veteran died in Peperellboro, Dec. 9,1791.
