. Benjamin Barton was born Berend Ibel.
He was about 8 years old when his birth Father. Berend Ibel died. His Mother remarried Martinus Barton and young Berend took his Step Fathers name. Martinus Barton is listed as Father, on Benjamin's Death Certificate.
It would appear the young Berend, Americanized his name to BENJAMIN, upon immigrating to the U.S. and on to Utah, about 1895. His Mother and Step Father immigrated the next year. And the family settled in Ogden and the surrounding area, Utah.
. He was a Farmer and Dairyman. With land in/or around Clinton, Weber Co. and land in Roy, 'by the homestead.

. Benjamin, served a mission for the LDS Church in the Netherlands from 1945 to 1948. He and brother G. Jongejan were the first two missionaries in the Netherlands after World War II.

. Benjamin and Gerdie were the parents of eleven children:

. Benjamin died from Hypostatic Pneomonia--Debilation.
November 10, 1955, Benjamin was struck by a car while crossing a street. The injuries were enough that the doctor listed them as a contributing factor, six months later on Benjamin Death Certificate.
