Murder Victim. Kidnapped from her home in Midlothian, Illinois while her family slept, her body was found four days later behind a dumpster at an apartment complex in Blue Island, Illinois, wrapped with her "Lady Lovely Locks" comforter that was taken from her bed with her. Her parents became suspects and were tried for her murder. He mother was acquitted, but her father was convicted of her murder, but his conviction was later overturned. Her true killer was never found, although there were several cases of little girls being kidnapped from their homes in the area for a couple of years after her murder. Her story was the subject of a book by David Protess and Rob Warden called "Gone In The Night." A made-for-television movie of the same name aired as well. Her case was also shown on the television program "Unsolved Mysteries."
