Jamie D. Hamrick, 93, of Granite City, Illinois died Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. He was born December 25, 1917 in Union County, Mississippi, a son of the late Lewis Dewitt and Elfie Rowe Hamrick. He married Evelyn Marie (Lett) Patrick on August 22, 1949. She preceded him in death on June 4, 1989. He was a member of Niedringhaus United Methodist Church in Granite City where he was active with the Harmony Sunday School class. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #835 in Granite City, Scottish Rite Bodies of Southern Illinois and the Retired Officers Association. Mr. Hamrick proudly served his country and retired in 1975 from the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer Four. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Infantry from 1944 until 1945, Korean War from 1951 until 1952 and the Vietnam Conflict from 1970 until 1971. He was also a team leader on a special presidential civic action mission to the Republic of Guinea in West Africa and various other assignments overseas and stateside. His awards include the Combat Infantry Badge, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with four oak leave clusters and many other awards, recognitions and campaign ribbons. Survivors include his stepson, Bruce W. Patrick of Collinsville; son, Jamie C. Hamrick of Little Rock, Arkansas; daughters, Sharron A. Ellebracht of Centennial, Colorado and Helen C. Lambeth of Somerville, Tennessee; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; other extended family and friends. Visitation: Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011 with Reverend Carl Mesiti officiating. Burials with full military honors will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL
