Emil C. Wobschall, resident of Waseca for over 60 years and active in city affairs as alderman and a member of the fire department until last spring when he retired, passed away shortly before midnight Friday evening at his home. He was 64 years old. Mr. Wobschall had been down town late in the afternoon on Friday and had started home when he suffered a stroke at approximately 5:20. A doctor was called and he was taken to his home where he passed away at 1:50 p. m. without regaining consciousness. Funeral services were held on Monday with a private service for the family at 11:45 in the morning at his home and church services at 1:30 p. m. at the St. John's Lutheran church of which he was a member. Rev. Walter J. Pilgrim officiated at the services and burial was made in the Woodville cemetery. Honorary pallbearers at the services were: Henry C. Nelson, William Blowers, Edw. Madden, Ray McCleary, Art. Suemnick, Waldo Taschner, Edw. Fiebiger, Dallas Greeney, G. E. Knutson, R. G. Lowe, Howard Herbst and George Meyer, Jr. Pallbearers were: Harry W. Fowler, William Schmidt, George I. James, L. W. Bathke, John Rietfort and Herman Wilken. He is survived by his wife and four children, Mrs. Clara McCall of Waseca, Carl O. Wobschall of Mankato, Clarence H. Wobschall of Waseca and Lorraine who lives at home. He is also survived by one borther, Gust. A. Wobschall of Blooming Grove; two sisters, Mrs. Herman A. Woyke of Waseca and Mrs. Elsa Bennett of Medford; and his mother, Mrs. Adeline Wobschall of Waseca. One daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Florence) Matz preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 1945. Emil Carl Wobschall was born in St. Mary township on October 7, 1881. His parents were Gust. R. And Adeline Wobschall. He was educated in Waseca county and lived in Waseca for most of his life, spending two years at Clara City. He was married on March 7, 1905 at Clara City in the St. John's Lutheran church to Miss Ellen Anna Johnson of that city. He was long an active member of the Waseca Fire Department and was serving as president of the Firemen's Relief Association when he passed away. He was elected to the position of president on January 15, 1930. He entered the fire department 39 years ago on February 23, 1907 and served continuously as a member until this spring when he retired. In honor of his long service, along with two other members of the department who were retiring. Waseca firemen tendered him a banquet and praised him for his service to the community.
