LaRee was born October 20, 1916 in Salem, Utah to Samuel Henry Taylor and Othelia Hanks. She was the first girl, and the third of eight children. After graduating from Spanish Fork High School, she met and married W. Stanley Sorenson on March 20, 1936 in Salt Lake City. They celebrated 61 years together. In 1956, they moved to Clearfield, Utah, where they lived for 20 years. While there both she and Stan worked at Hill Air Force Base. Upon their retirement in 1977, they served a mission for the LDS Church in Arkansas. At the conclusion of their mission, they moved to Salem, where they built a house together and grew a wonderful garden.
LaRee was an accomplished quilter. She fed many with the proceeds of her garden and many slept under a quilt made by her hands.
She is survived by her son, Denis Sorenson, and daughters, Sandra and Sherie (Sherlyn), brother, Leonard Taylor and sister, Helen Ede, thirteen grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Preceeded in death: husband, Stan, her parents and five of her siblings.
A viewing will be held in her honor from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the LDS Church which is located at 60 N. Main, Salem, Utah with the funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Salem City Cemetery.
