William is the manager of the North Bay limburger cheese factory and an accomplished cheesemaker but he becomes severely ill and dies three months after they are married. William is buried in the same section and lot as her Ada's mother. A few years later, Smith is buried with his wife and son-in-law. On 19 Jul 1919, Ada marries John Peter Fox (1880-1957) of Vienna, Oneida County, New York, in Vienna.
