Motion Picture Director, Screenwriter. Best known for his association with Hammer Pictures. With an acting background from the Australian Theatre, he settled in England following World War II and freelanced as an actor and story contributor. He experienced steady work on the BBC radio program "Journey into Space" and marked his directing debut with "The Stolen Airliner" (1955, also writing the script). Sharp would move onto British TV, directing several episodes of the series "Ghost Squad" (1961 to 1962) and later joined the stable of directors at the Hammer Studios, beginning with "The Kiss of the Vampire" (1963). This was followed with "The Devil-Ship Pirates" (1964) and "Rasputin: The Mad Monk" (1966). He had the task of directing the 1978 remake of Hitchcock's "The Thirty Nine Steps" and would return once more to Hammer with an episode of the TV series "Hammer House of Horrors" (1980). Sharp is also credited with the TV mini-series "A Woman of Substance" (1984).
