Eugenia Thornton (Stewart) Lucas (1908 - 2011)

Eugenia Stewart Thornton Lucas, 102, a devoted mother, loving grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at a Bedford care facility. Service: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wildwood Chapel, Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.

Ms. Lucas was born to Henry Thomas "H.T." and Ina Lively Stewart in Argyle on Dec. 18, 1908. She attended the College of Industrial Arts in Denton (now Texas Woman's University) in the late '20s. She married William Dillard Thornton on June 28, 1928. They were married 49 years at the time of his death in 1977. Ms. Lucas married E. Herbert Lucas of Dallas on Feb. 21, 1987. They were married six years at the time of his death in 1993. Her only child, D. Stewart Thornton, passed away in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Stewart, and sister, Marcella Stewart Henderson.

Survivors: She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Annie Belle Barr Thornton of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Kellen Diamanti and husband, Mike, and their sons, Trent and Dimitri, of Coupeville, Wash., and Kathryn Holton and her husband, Larry, of Fort Worth; grandsons, David Thornton and his wife, Becky, of Bedford, Scott Thornton, a retired USN lieutenant commander, and his wife, Laura, and their son, Andrew, and daughter, Ann Marie, of Grand Bay, Ala., and Bruce Thornton and his wife, Cheryl, and son, Brian, of Rowlett; along with several nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
