Two-Year Vet Killed at 19 In Korea War

SPRINGVILLE (Special) – Pfc. Jack Ernest Shipp, 19, a son of Mr. And Mrs. Ozrow Shipp, was killed in action in Korea Sep5 2, according to word received by the parents Thursday from the Department of Defense.

He had been in the service two years. He was wounded Aug. 25 in Korea and given the purple heart. He recuperated in a hospital in Japan. Shortly after going back into action he was killed.

He spent his early years in Salina and attended Springville school two years before going into the army. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors are his parents, and a brother, Stanley; three sisters: Bonnie Jean, Myrtle and Sandra Shipp, Springville.
