Ray E. Folkenroth Jr., 63, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 17, 2011.

Born August 3, 1948, in York, he was the son of Ray E. Folkenroth Sr. and Mary Ellen Folkenroth of York.

A service to celebrate the life of Ray will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, 11 a.m. at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown with Rev. Fred A. Walthour officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday.

In addition to his parents, Ray is survived by a sister, Julie Folkenroth of York; three brothers, Kenneth Folkenroth of York; Todd Folkenroth and his wife Chris, of Manchester; James Folkenroth and his wife Brenda, of New Springfield, Ohio; three nieces and a number of aunts and uncles.

Ray was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Jacobus and the VFW. He was a veteran. Ray served his country with honor as a member United States Army, Green Beret Special Forces during the Vietnam War. Ray was an avid bowler and a member of the 700 Bowling Clubs of America. He enjoyed watching Nascar and collecting Nascar memorabilia. Ray was previously employed by Continental Wire and Cable and Jiffy Lube. He was currently employed for many years at Colony Park Lanes in York.

Burial with full military honors provided by the York County Honor Guard will be in Salem Union Cemetery in Jacobus.
