As a kid, Andy attended school at Smith Chapel near Rose, Oklahoma. On September 12, 1964, in Scott City, Kansas, Carolguwin Beatrice Gray and Andy Thomas Ward were united in marriage. Carol preceded her husband in death on October 2, 2009. The couple had been married for over 45 years.
Andy lived most of his life in Mayes County. He worked as a truck driver and had spent some time hanging sheet rock. He had been a part of Cowboy Junction Church near Adair, Oklahoma. On October 20, 2010, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Andy and Kimberly Phillips were united in marriage.
Andy loved to go fishing and check his jug lines in the lake. He also enjoyed going to the casino and the Monk-Ward family reunion each year in May. Above all, he loved his family and treasured the time spent with his grandchildren. Andy will be dearly missed.
He is survived by: his wife: Kimberly, of the home; 4 children: David Ward and wife Debbie of Pryor, Oklahoma, Carol Ann Grimes and husband Patrick of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Jim Ward and wife Tammy of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Kelly Ward and Marleta of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren: C.T. Ward and wife Heather, Chantel Ward, C.J. Ward, Justen Ward, Wesley Grimes and wife S'yvan, Emily Ward, Remington Ward, Angela Miller and husband Dave, and Ryan McClellan and wife Melissa; 7 great grandchildren: Caden Ward, Brayden Grimes, Drew Miller, Brooks Miller, Michaela Guy, Zaiden Ward, and Jaysten Cox; Mother-in-law: Mildred Baker of Pryor, Oklahoma; 1 sister: Janice Long and husband Roy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Brother-in-law: Jerry Greear of Mountain Park, Oklahoma; Uncle: Jerry Monk and wife Vivian of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Andy was preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife, Carol; and 1 sister: Faye Greear.
Funeral services were held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, December 22, 2011, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Reverend Brent Turpen and Reverend Wade Markham officiated. Interment followed at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Rose, Oklahoma. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
