From handwritten obituary: Williamson Collett was born in the state of N.C. in the year 1793. He removed with his parents to Indiana Territory, Franklin Co. 1805. He was united in the Holy bond of Matrimony with wife, Mary Hardy, in 1821 & settled in Fayette County. Soon after, while engaged on the farm he heard a voice saying, "First seek the king" and he never rested until he obtained the evidence that he was a child of God. He removed to Shelby county, Indiana, in 1831. Here the companion of his youth died in 1836. He was next married to wife, Sarah Lewis, in 1836. She also preceded him to the better land in 1866.
He ever remained a faithful servant of the Lord & Savior Jesus Chirst until the Lord called him from labor to reward Sept 15th 1878 -- His last illness was short -- when asked If the Grace of God sustained him he said, "yes Jesus has promised to be with us in six troubles & in the seventh He will not forsake us." He never failed attending church. If he was able to go, he always preferred walking rather than to ride on horseback or in a carriage. At low calculation he has walked 6,240 miles attending the worship of God.
He leaves 2 children, 12 grandchildren & 4 great-grand children to mourn themselves together with all that new him. Funeral preached by Rev. Leach B D.
