ASHTABULA — LeRoy F. Stevens, age 86, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 14, 2011, at Saybrook Landing in Ashtabula, Ohio.
He was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Albion, Pa., the son of George and Aleta (Shaffer) Stevens. After High School, LeRoy enlisted in the United States Army, serving during World War II.
He then was employed as a press operator for the Astatic Corporation in Conneaut, retiring in 1990.
LeRoy was a life member of American Legion Cowle Post 151 in Conneaut. He enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows, gardening and being with his family. LeRoy was active in many organizations when his kids were young.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis (Betty) Stevens of Painesville, Ohio, Leon (Patricia) Stevens of Ashtabula, Ohio and Gordon (Caroline Parker) Stevens of Conneaut; five grandchildren, Kelly Butler, Karey Edwards, Shannon Stevens, Tami Basron and Kristi Stevens; and two great-grandchildren, Saranya Basron, and Carleigh Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy (Smith) Stevens in 2004; and his brother, Norman Stevens.
A private service will be held with entombment in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Contributions may be made to the Activities Fund at Saybrook Landing. Envelopes will be available at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio which has charge of arrangements.
