Gordon was the first son of four sons born to George Price Blenkarn and Alice Waite. He came with his family from England to Toronto in 1907 when he was still a child. At age 17, he saved the life of someone at a Sunday School Picnic and the story made the Toronto Globe at that time. He was given a gold watch and some other things at the time. It seems the other lad had swam under the dock and struck his head and would have drowned if Gordon hadn't reached him and brought him safe to shore. It was a place about forty miles from Toronto where they had their picnic.

Gordon married Margaret Morison (b. ca 1900 in Scotland) in September 1924 in Toronto. They had 1 son and 1 daughter:

Russell
Joyce

Margaret died 8 Aug 1959 in Scarbrough, Ontario.

Gordon married the next year in 1960 to a widow named Edith Spencer (Mills). His last years were spent in a nursing home, but he enjoyed fairly good health until the end. Gordon is buried with his first wife Margaret.
