Mrs Scott Gardner's Mother Flood Victim
Mrs Scott Gardner of Afton was called to Chowchilla, Calif. recently to attend the funeral services for her mother Mrs Leona Estella Ross, 73, who passed away January 8 in a Madera hospital. Mrs Ross, who wa an invalid was rescued during the recent holiday flood from her home and died of exposure after she had been taken by boat to the railway depot and from there by ambulance to a hospital.
Her death canceled a scheduled golden wedding celebration for which elaborate plans had been made. Funeral services were held January 11 in the Worden Funeral Chapel, conducted by Reverend Lawrence Wood of the Madera Assembly of God Church.
Interment was in the Chowchilla cemetery.
