WINTHROP/NEWARK VALLEY — Margaret "Peg" Diles - Archambault, 93, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, in the comfort of her home, fulfilling her wish to spend Christmas with Jesus. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

Mrs. Archambault was born on April 24, 1918 in Endicott, daughter of the late Vern and Elizabeth (Davis) Ace and attended Dutchtown County School and Newark Valley High School. In 1940, she married James Diles, who predeceased her. During the WWII, she supported the war effort in the production of Army boots, and later worked in the mailroom at Cornell University. She married Claude Archambault on April 22, 2006 at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls with Rev. Patrick Ratigan celebrating.

Margaret was a past member of the East Berkshire UMC, the Women's Society of Newark and was attending St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls. She is survived by her husband, Claude; three sons and daughters in law, James and April Diles of Candor, Creighton and Sharon Diles of Candor and Jerry and Jackie Diles of Winthrop; two step-children, Ernest Archambault and Caroline Archambault, both of Connecticut; grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides her first husband, James Diles, two brothers, George Ace and Earl Ace, one sister, Hazel Scherter, predeceased her.

Her family will receive friends at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, Sunday from 6 to 8. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 11 am at St. Lawrence Church in North Lawrence with Rev. Patrick Ratigan celebrant and Rev. Garry Giroux concelebrant. Burial will be Wednesday at noon in East Newark Cemetery in the Town of Newark Valley. A Memorial Service will follow the burial at the East Berkshire UMC at 1 pm.
