Ilion - William D. Fenner, 81, former resident of North Ilion, died Aug. 13,
1939, after an illness of two years, following a paralytic stroke.
He was born in the Town of Litchfield, Apr. 3, 1858, son of the late William and
Eliza Wood Fenner, and, except for a year in Florida, lived all his life in
Herkimer County. His early life was devoted to farming near Osburne Hill, but
he had worked several years in the shipping room at Remington Arms Company until
he retired eight years ago. He had lived in North Ilion 29 [?] years and
attended the Universalist Church, Herkimer.
He was married 40 years ago to Miss Addie Farmer, Fairfield, at the Presbyterian
Church, Herkimer. She died three years ago.
Survivors are two sons, LeRoy, Utica and Harry, North Ilion; one daughter, Mrs.
Helen Sturges, 234 Otsego, Ilion, and 14 grandchildren and two great
grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sturges, Wednesdy
afternoon at 2, with the Rev. Ernest C. Love, D.D., of the Ilion Methodist
Church, officiating. Burial will be in Middleville Cemetery.
