Eustace Johnnie Smaistrla, 84, of El Campo passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2006.
He was born on January 21, 1922 in Hillje, Texas to the late Adolph and Rosie Dibala Smaistrla. He was a farmer/rancher and owner of A1 Auto Service since 1947 and a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus 2490, American Legion 251, V.F.W. 2786, and the D.A.V.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Cecilia "Tillie" Smaistrla of El Campo; daughters, Rosalinda Marek, Gloria Bubela, Patsy Barosh, Marian Bram and husband Garry, all of El Campo; son, Roy Smaistrla and wife Janice of El Campo; sister, Martha Kutac of El Campo; grandchildren Janet Rioux and husband Keith, Sara Koop and husband Cody, Melissa Howell and husband Jonathan, Ryan Bubela, Rodney Smaistrla and fiancée Ashley Drews, Audrey Smaistrla, Joshua Barosh, Carissa Barosh, Alicia Riha and husband Todd, and Amber Bram and fiancé Jeremy Cervenka; and great-grandchildren, Kayla Kulcak, Ashley Rioux, Allyson Rioux, and Grant Koop.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patricia Ann Smaistrla; sisters, Agnes Poncik, Mary Hausinger, Emma Labay, and Edith Pavlik; brothers, August, Henry, Robert, and William Smaistrla; and grandson Steven James Marek.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home.
A rosary will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Janak officiating.
Burial will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post 251.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Barosh, Ryan Bubela, Rodney Smaistrla, David Kutac, Jimmy Pavlik, and Glen Kaluza.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Philip's Catholic Church Building Fund,
St. Philip's School Endowment, or El Campo EMS.
