THERE ARE CONFLICTING PEDIGREES
Some have chosen the John Cass who was b. in 1689 in Hampton as the husband of Hannah Gove b. 1691. That John Cass supposedly died in 1709 at age 19. He was the son of Joseph Cass and Mary Hobbs.
The records of New England Historical and Genealogical Society record his birth as Hampton, NH in 1687. There are several family histories which say Deacon John was the son of Samuel Cass and not the son of his brother Joseph Cass. Unless a DNA test of the mother is done, there will always be an argument. I chose the birthdate of 1687 because the gravestone records it as such and so does the NEHGS. The last child of John Cass and Hannah Gove recorded in Mendon was SAMUEL, b. 1731!!
***************************************************************************
"John Cass son of Samuel Cass was born at Hampton New Hampshire He was a Quaker and finally left Hampton where his sect was persecuted to settle in Mendon where many of his faith had settled and where the people were tolerant and just. He removed about 1726 according to the history of Hampton He had a lot of land laid out to him at Mendon four acres and a half in the eighth division adjoining his other land
John Cass married Hannah Gove daughter of John Gove Their children all but the two [three] youngest born at Hampton were:
1 Mehitable twin born 02 Oct 1713 Hampton, NH
2 Hannah twin born 02 Oct 1713 Hampton, NH

5 Mary born 19 Nov 1718 Hampton, NH
6 Hugh (male) born 07 Sep 1720 Hampton, NH [Sometimes referred to as Hepzibah (female) Perhaps Twins? I find no record of Hepzibah, only Hugh.]
7 Jonathan Gove born 23 Aug 1722 Hampton, NH
8 Daniel born 29 Nov 1725 Hampton, NH; also recorded at Uxbridge, MA
