Died: May 27, 1887 [per his organizational pension index record, and he is in the 1880 census living in West Pennsboro Township]

The son of John & Anna (Kauffman) Beidler and both stepson and nephew of Mary (Kauffman) Beidler, he married Margaret White December 24, 1857, and fathered Anna L. (b. 08/13/58 - married James M. Greason), Catherine Amanda (b. 03/13/60 - married Franklin P. Brehm), Maude Lilly (b. 04/15/62), and John T. (b. 1867). In 1860, he was a miller living in Frankford Township, Cumberland County.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Cumberland County September 15, 1862, and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg September 23 as quartermaster sergeant for the 17th Pennsylvania Cavalry (162nd Pa). Promoted to 1st sergeant of Co. F (commanded by his brother John), on May 29, 1863, he proved himself inadequate to the job and broken to ranks August 1, 1863. He honorably discharged with his company June 16, 1865.
