Madora is buried on a lot that has a surname center stone, but she does not have one. Also on the lot are Anna and Adam Bishop with death dates two days after hers. Lemuel and Bertha Bishop have monuments and they are on the same lot.

Madora Bigbee was the child of John Strother and Nancy [Henry] Bigbee. She was married to Thomas Jernigan, Marcus LaRue Harrison, and, Addison Bishop.

While the funeral services were being conducted for her mother, who died Wednesday [Mrs. Medora Bishop died 24 March 1909], Miss Anne S Bishop, twenty-eight, died at the Bishop home at 729 South Campbell at 5:10 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Her father, Addison, who laid critically ill in the Bishops home at the time, was not told his her death, and passed away at 11 o'clock not knowing that his daughter had expired. Both died of pneumonia.

Arrangements for Miss Bishop funeral, which was to have been held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, were changed following her father's death, and a double funeral service will be held for both Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The services with be in the Grace M E Church and Rev C C James, assisted by Rev Dr. J W Stewart and C H Briggs, will have charge of the service. Interment will be in Maple Park Cemetery, besides Mrs. Bishop's grave.

Miss Bishop's brother, Lemuel A Bishop was at the home of a cousin, Mrs. James Shipp, 474 East Cherry Street, where his mother's funeral was being held when he was informed that his sister was dying. The services for Mrs. Bishop were suspended for a short time, while the brother hurried to the family home and was at his sister's bedside when death came.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Bishop who was sixty nine years old, were conducted by Rev. Benjamin F. Logan of the Board Street Cumberland Presbyterian Church pf which she was a member. "Asleep in Jesus", "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Some Sweet Day" were sung by the church choir. Many friend attend the services. Interment was in Maple Park Cemetery.

Lemuel A. Bishop and two grandchildren are now the only surviving member of the family, having been deprived by death of this father, mother and sister within short space of less than thirty-six hours. His wife and two children have died within the last two years.

Addison Bishop was born in Washington County Arkansas, sixty - three years ago and came to Springfield, twenty-nine years ago. Me married Miss Medora Bishop [sic  Bigbee], youngest daughter of the late Captain John S Bigbee, a pioneer of Springfield, thirty-three years ago. Mr. Bishop was a member of Grace M E Church, and also of Campbell Camp of Confederate Veterans. He served in the Confederate Army under Captain Kirby Smith's Battery, and was in the service in Louisiana at close of war. The son Lemuel A and Annie S were the only children born to Mr and Mrs. Bishop.

Mrs. Bishop had been ill since last July but was not confined to her bed except at intervals. Miss Bishop [Annie S] became ill March 15 and the anxiety over her daughter and fatigued of assisting for caring for her caused Mrs. Bishop to become seriously ill. Mr. Bishop had been suffering from Grippe for some time and the solitude for his wife and daughter made him easily susceptible to pneumonia and he became ill six days ago.

Miss Bishop had lived with her parents in the house on South Campbell street since 1883. She has her father had insisted on the body of Mrs. Bishop be brought to their bedside following the death of Mrs. Bishop. Friends are invited to the attend the funeral services Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock.

Green County For Nearly Sixty-Five Years

Mrs. Medora Bishop, sixty-nine years of age, wife of Addison Bishop, died at the family died at the family home 729 South Campbell at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon, of the infirmities of age and complicated by diseases after severe sickness of two weeks duration.

Mrs. Bishop was the daughter of the late Captain John S Bigbee, one of the earlier settlers of Green County and was the only surviving sister to Mrs. S G Sanford, mother of W Sanford of 804 East Elm Street. She is survived by her husband and one daughter and one son. Miss Anne is the daughter and Lemuel Bishop an employee of Herman Sanford Saddlery Company is the son.

At the time of her death, her husband and daughter were very low with pneumonia in the Bishops home and it fears they cannot recover. No one of the immediate Bishop family, except their son will be able to attend the funeral which will be held from the residence of the niece, Mrs. J W Shipp at 474 East Cherry Street at 4 o'clock this afternoon.

The afflicted father [sic husband] and daughter when they were informed that the wife and mother had passed away requested that the body of their loved one be brought to their bedside before taken to the Shipp residence that they may have one last look at the face of one they loved in life.   The body was taken to the Shipp home last night.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 o'clock this afternoon by Rev Benjamin F Logan, pastor of the Broad Street Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Special songs will be sung by the choir of the Broad Street Church in which Mrs. Bishops children are members. Internment will be in the Maple Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Bishop had come to Springfield with her parents sixty-five years ago when she was only four years of age. She is related to many prominent families of Springfield, including the Hollands and Keets. Her husband who is dangerously ill is seventy years of age. Mrs. Bishop is well known and highly esteemed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. 

The death of Mrs. Bishop under the circumstance was particularly distressing to the members of the unfortunate little family and usually sorrowful to friends and acquaintances. It is feared by friends and acquaintances that the aged husband and sick daughter will serve the shock.
