MRS. ADDA McDANNEL
Mrs. Adda McDannel, the subject of this sketch, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Randall on February 26, 1866, at Piqua, O., and passed away at the Mary Lanning hospital (sic) in Hastings, Nebraska, May 17, 1952, at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 21 days.
She came to Nebraska with her parents in 1883 and spent most of her life in and near Giltner in Hamilton county (sic). She was married to Fred S. McDannel Sept. 26, 1996. To this union was born five children. Two boys, A.L. McDannel of Hastings, Nebr. and Oscar F. now of Berkley (sic), Calif. Three girls, Mrs. Amy Cole of Hollywood, and Mrs. Minnie Stegeman of Arcadia, Calif., and Mrs. Iva Newton of Ingleside, Nebr.
Mr. McDannel passed away in December of 1940. She is survived by all five children, 12 grand children and 21 great grand children, also two sisters and one brother.
When the Christian church (sic) was organized in Giltner in 1898 she became a charter member, where she retained her membership until her death. She was always a faithful attendant and loyal worker as long as her health would permit.
She was always interested in community affairs and was a member of the Willing Workers organization which has contributed so materially to the Golden Rule Cemetery Association of Giltner. She was always happy to attend their meetings and was present at the last meeting which was held at the home of Mrs. Mabel Davis on April 20th of this year.
The funeral was held from the Christian church (sic) in Giltner Tuesday, May 20 at 2 p.m. with the pastor, Rev. K.E. Harris in charge.
Mrs. Roma Brown and Mrs. Marie Bell sang, "Old Rugged Cross" and "Sometime We'll Understand," accompanied by Mrs. C.D. Chapman at the piano.
Pallbearers were W.C. Dieckman, C.R. Erb, Frank Howland, O.C. Hunnicutt, W.P. Grolez, J.C. Bierbower.
Funeral arrangements were in charge of the C.D. Chapman Mortuary and burial was in the Phillips Cemetery.
