As a result of the troop build-up in Viet Nam, sergeant Paul R. Setzer, whose wife Lucy lives in Placerville, recently debarked there with other members of the first infantry division. Setzer is a squad leader. He entered the army in August, 1954. His division is also known as the "Fighting First"; it was the first in World War II in North Africa, Sicily and France and the first to crack Hitler's Siegfried line."

"Chapel of the Pines has received word that the body of staff sergeant Paul Ray Setzer will be sent here for burial. Setzer, who served in the US Army for 11 years, was killed in action in Vietnam on Feb. 4. Although Setzer had not been a resident of this area, his wife, Lucy M. Setzer, and their three children live here.
Funeral services are pending."
