Patricia Edwards Hinerman, 84, of Saint Simons Island, died peacefully at her residence on Thursday, December 15, 2011, surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John M. Hinerman, sisters Maude Brown Edwards Green and Jere Edwards Hess, and her parents, William Russell and Willie Green Pound Edwards.

Patricia was born in Fort Valley, Georgia, on July 12, 1927. She graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, in 1948 and married John M. Hinerman that same year. Upon their marriage, Rev. and Mrs. Hinerman moved to Ohio where he served as a minister in the Methodist Church for 38 years. She retired with her husband to Glynn County, Georgia, in 1985, to be near her sister and brother-in-law, the late Larry C. Sweat and Ada Edwards Sweat.

She is survived by her two sons, John M. Hinerman, Jr., and Dr. Russell W. Hinerman, a granddaughter, Angela R. Ulrich, two step-grandchildren, Kimberly A. Venable-Kunz and Brian G. Atwood, two step-great-granddaughters, Erika and Carley Venable, a brother, Dr. William R. Edwards, Jr., and his wife Kathleen, a sister, Mrs. Larry C. Sweat, and a number of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the church Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the Funeral Hour.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church, Brunswick, with Rev. James R. McIlrath, and Rev. James Jensen officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tommie Powers, Valerie Carter, Shirley Bennett and Sarah Thibodeaux (her devoted caregivers) and the entire Heartland Hospice team. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Fort Valley, Georgia, on Monday, December 19, 2011, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donation be made to the First United Methodist Church, Brunswick, the W.R. and Willie P. Edwards Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Asbury College, Wilmore, Kentucky, or Heartland Hospice.
