Jozefa was born abt. 1873 in Glinik Polski, near Jaslo, Galicia to Marcin Garbacz and Katarzyna Grochowski.

What we have found thus far regarding possible siblings of Josephine are: an Antony Garbacik who died on 21 March 1934 and is buried in Detroit.

Pawel Garbaczyk who was born Oct 1875 in Glinik ~ he says on the immigration record of the SS Friesland sailing out of Antwerp, Belgium and arriving in NY on 4 Jun 1901 that he's a laborer, can read and write, and that he's going to his brother-in-law Jozef Moraniec at 17 Otis St who paid for his passage. Paul (37, married, laborer) returned with his sister Anna (15, single, servant) to Detroit in 1906. They sailed on the SS RotterdamThey are both from Glinik Polski and can read and write. Paul paid for Anna's passage

On 24 Jan 1892 she married Jozef Moraniec in St. Francis RC Church, Detroit. The witnesses were Florian Wozny and Valenty Dziedziak. The priest who married Jozefy and Big Joe was Rev. Romuald Byzewski, who was pastor of St Francis d'Assisi parish on 4500 Wesson Street on Detroit's west side.

About 1904, Josephine became very ill with pneumonia. Her husband and all of their children were present when she died.
