Funeral for Ruth Caruthers, 81, of Haltom City will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at Hawkins Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Mike Spradlin will officiate. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery. Visitation was to be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the funeral home.
Caruthers died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, in Fort Worth.
Born Oct. 16, 1924, in Loco, Okla., to Jim and Dora Wisdom Armstrong, she was a homemaker, a volunteer for the March of Dimes, a supporter of youth sports and activities and a member of the Birdville Baptist Church, the Birdville PTA and the Haltom High Athletic Booster Club.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Sterling Hallmark; a brother, Jack Armstrong; and her Aunt Leacie, who raised her and her brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Carl L. Caruthers of Haltom City; three sons, Ronnie Caruthers and wife, Dana, of Colleyville, Terry Caruthers and wife, Pam, of Cottondale and Jerry Caruthers and wife, Lori, of North Richland Hills; a daughter, Carla Reneau and husband, Max, of Paradise; a brother, Ivan Armstrong; nine grandchildren, Lori, Ronna and husband, Gary, Clay and wife, Cherie, Shane, Justin and wife, Laura, Hallie, Carlie, Tom and Jon and wife, Heather; and four great-grandchildren, Koby, Camryn, Cayton and Rylee.
Pallbearers were Koby Kirkpatrick, Justin Caruthers, Jeff Barker, Clay Caruthers, Gary Hunt and Shane Caruthers.
