Earl was born in Winterset Iowa son of Benjamin Thornburg and Jessie Weaver. Sometime in his 30-40's he moved from Iowa to Detroit Michigan with his wife and son to join the booming Auto Business and became a press operator at GM. There is some unknown reason he never went back to Iowa. Although his wife and son visited every year. And he did request to be buried in Minburn. But he never contacted the Winterset Thornburgs up to the day he died, this is a mystery I am still trying to solve. Earl was a WWI vet and was Honorably Discharged from the Army on August 21, 1920 and died in Allen Park VA Hospital in 1949 of Cancer of the tongue with extensions to the neck and lung.
