World War II Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army in Company B, 135th Infantry, 34th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on May 23, 1944 near Anzio, Italy. He was presented the Medal by Major General Sherman Miles at the Boston Commons, Boston, MA on April 13, 1945.
