MATHEWS, EDITH (GRANNY) - age 93 of Rutledge went to be with her Lord on December 14, 2011, at Ridgeview Terrace Nursing home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Nola Mathews. Edith was a devoted friend to everyone she met and was well known for many years of working on her farm and in many restaurants throughout Rutledge and White Pine. This is where she gained the name "Granny". Edith leaves a special cousin, Vicky Mathis; several other cousins; her pet "Jamie" and many friends who will cherish her memory. The family would like to thank Bill Churchwell for the love and care he gave her for many years, along with all the members of Blue Springs Baptist Church. We were so fortunate to have such caring professionals at Ridgeview Terrace such as Kathy, Lisa, and Jennifer who cared for her dearly. Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Friday, at Fielden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Williamson officiating. Interment 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Blue Spring Cemetery, the service conducted by Marty Shelton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blue Springs Baptist Church of Rutledge. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at Fielden Funeral Home in New Market.
