Funeral services for Mrs. Sophie May Stanton, 80, of 655 Glenwood, will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Jennings-Lyons Chapel with Rev. Cecelia Learn of the Corunna Ave. Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens and the body rests at the chapel.
She was found dead at the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. Fred Worthington, of the Hibbard road, Monday morning. She had been in failing health for the past year.
mrs. Stanton was born in Germany on May 15, 1871 and had lived in the Owosso area since the age of nine. Sophie Schaible married Guy Stanton at Owosso on July 15, 1886. He died in 1942. She was a member of the Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Royal Neighbors.
surviving are an adopted son, Frank, of Owosso; four brothers, George of Grayling, Charles and Conrad of Lansing, and Herman, of Grand Ledge; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Collins, of Flint, and mrs. Kate Moyer and Mrs. Clara ... of Lansing; and seven grandchildren.
