FORMER RESIDENT PASSES AT DELAKE
Funeral services for Mrs. Lettie Park Stewart, widow of the late E.J. Stewart, were held Wednesday at 1:30 at Macy's chapel with Rev. J.R. Kimmell officiating. Mrs. Stewart passed away Sunday at her home in Delake following a few weeks of illness.
She was born April 8, 1862, at Viola, Illinois. She attended the academy at Aledo, Ill., and later taught piano at Danville, Ill., and Fremont, Nebraska. It was there she met Mr. Stewart, who had come west from Pennsylvania. They were married at Viola on October 18, 1892, and lived at Brainard, Neb., and Hebron, Neb. Until 1912. All of their six children were born in these communities.
The family moved to Medford in 1912 and to McMinnville in 1917. They resided in McMinnville until 1936 when they retired and moved to the North Lincoln beaches, living first at Nelscott and later Delake. Mr. Stewart passed away in April 1947.
Mrs. Stewart had been a member of the Baptist church since 1913 and previously of the Presbyterian church. She was of a deeply religious nature and had been very active in church work during the years she resided in McMinnville.
She is survived by four of her six children, Mrs. Robert E. Evans of McMinnville, Mrs. James Walkenshaw of Delake, Dr. J. Park Stewart of Camas, Wn., and Dr. R. Moore Stewart of Yreka, Calif. Two preceded her in death, Mrs. Beth Richardson of Dallas in 1944 and Dean L. Stewart of McMinnville in 1938.
There are also nine grandchildren, Mrs. Pat DeCristoforo, Portland; Robert E. Evans Jr., of the U.S. navy stationed in California; Mrs. Trevor Russell of Monmouth; Mrs. Robert Williams of Foster; Jim Stewart of Dallas; Ann and John Stewart of Camas, Wn.; and Beth and Patricia Stewart of Yreka, Calif. She has one great grandson, Robert DeCristoforo of Portland.
Burial was beside her husband in the McMinnville Evergreen cemetery.
