Daniel L. Yates, 49, of 3557 Carter Road, Canastota, died Tuesday, at University Hospital, Syracuse, following a lengthy illness. He was born on July 23, 1962, in Oneida, the son of Ernest and Carol Urben Yates. Daniel spent his early years in Kirkville and Munnsville, graduating from East Syracuse Minoa High School. He had lived in Canastota most of his life. He worked for the New York Sate Department of Transportation in Syracuse for 24 years, recently retiring due to his health. He enjoyed working and spending time with his family and friends, who will greatly miss him. Daniel married Ruth C. Folmar on August 29, 1992, in Kirkville. Survivors: his wife, Ruth; a son, Paul Edenholm of Canastota; two daughters, Kyra and Edward Ellis of Canastota, and Angela and Leon Broniszewski Jr, of Chittenango; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Tony and Kelly Yates of Canastota, Ernie and Cindy Yates of E. Syracuse, Joe Yates, and Scott and Tyla Yates; seven grandchildren, Valarie Edenholm, Dakota Knapp, Damien Ellis, Ashley Deluna, Maria Deluna, Leon Broniszewski, III, and Victoria Broniszewski; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., Canastota. The Rev. Dr. Kelvin S. Jones, pastor of the Community Wesleyan Church, Kirkville, will officiate. Burial will be in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held Friday (tomorrow), from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 201 James Street, Canastota.
