Son of Nichols David and Annis Eliza Williamson Currie. Joseph married Henrietta Jones on February 23, 1910.

MULLINS - Funeral services were held Monday for Joseph Preston Curry, 69, prominent farmer of Marion County and a resident of Mullins. Services were held in the First Baptist Church, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Percy B. Upchurch. Burial followed at Cedardale Cemetery.

Mr. Curry was a son of the late N. D. and Annis Williamson Curry and was born and reared in Horry County. He was married in 1910 to the former Henrietta Jones. They made their home in Mullins since 1918.

He was active in church work, at one time having been superintendent of the Little Bethel Church Sunday school in Marion County. He became a member of the Mullins First Baptist Church in 1918 and during this membership held various positions, such as church secretary and treasurer, secretary of the junior department, choir member and music committee member. He was a deacon, recently being named a lifetime deacon.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joseph P. Curry Jr. of Greensboro, NC and William Lawton Curry of Mullins; three daughters, Mrs. Elyse C. Hester of Monroe, NC, Mrs. Elizabeth Burch of Mullins and Mrs. J. A. Bruce of Lake View; two brothers, Francis Marion Curry of Valdosta, GA and C. F. Curry of Mullins; two sisters, Mrs. T. B. Rigsbee of Pittsboro, NC and Mrs. W. D. Dozier of Mullins and 7 grandchildren.
