Funeral services for Sophia Weber were held at the Christ is King Catholic Church in Presho Monday, January 5 at 10:30 am Father Wm. Lambert, officiated at the service. Arlene Ambur, organist accompanied Pauline Severin, Soloist.
Casketbearers included Mike Kerns, Steve Kerns, Kim Kerns, Derek Turnow, Clay Roberts, and Todd Thompson. Ushers were LeRoy Krier and Charles Leichtnam. In charge of arrangements.
Sophia Weber was born October 20, 1889 at Niederbayern, Germany to George and Phhilomena Schnendorfer. Oct 19, 1909. She married Andrew Weber. They resided in Germany 1912. On Feb 2nd they sailed from Hamburg, Germany on the ship Breslau, arriving in New York February 28. They proceeded west to Fort Pierre and the family resided with the Joseph Danzers for one year. They then moved to a farm nearby southeast of Ft. Pierre. In 1915 they took up a homestead in Gas Belt Township where they lived until 1937 when they sold their land holdings to the government submarginal land buying program. They purchased a farm near Blunt, SD and resided there until 1960 and moved to Presho, SD.
In 1965 her husband Andrew passed away. In 1974 she became a resident of Mary House until December 30 until she passed away.
Survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Ward Dittman (Frances), Mrs. (Rose) Wagner, Letcher, SD; Mrs. Dave Pinkerton (Billie), Myrtle Point, Ore.; Mrs. Elmer Johnson (Helen) and Mrs. Lynn Salmon (Polly), Eugene, Ore.; Mrs. Peter Nemec (Agnes), Roseburg, Oreg and one son, Godfrey Weber, Redmond, Oreg; 30 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
Her husband Andrew and son Andrew and 2 grandsons preceded her in death along with two brothers and 5 sisters.
