Death of Sanford D. Wiley. Sanford D. Wiley died at his home In Albion Monday evening at 5:30 o'clock. Judge and Mrs. J. S. Stock-well, of Pontiac, and Mrs. Sarah A. Evens, of this city, had gone to Albion for a short visit, the ladies being sisters of Mrs. Wiley. They were all seated at the supper table, when, without warning, the silver cord was loosed, and Mr. Wiley peacefully passed away. Sanford D. Wiley was 76 years old and was born in Vermont. When a young boy bis parents removed to Michigan, fettling at Southfield in Oakland County. He lived thereabouts until the breaking out of the war of the rebellion, and early responded to the call for volunteers, enlisting in the First Michigan Cavalry. He was a faithful soldier and bore his share of the privations and dangers of that sanguinary conflict. To his death he bore in his body the evidences of the struggle, and dlsease which fastened itself upon him could never be overcome. After the war Mr. Wiley came to Owosso. He was associated for years with Dewes & Stewart in the old flouring mill at the foot of Exchange Street. Later, he lived in Gaines, then Corunna, finally moving to Albion a decade ago, and had since made that city his home.

Mr. "Willy was an honest, sincere man, kind and gentle in the extreme, and loved by all who knew him. He was a communicant of the Episcopal church, a devoted member of the G. A. R. and a Mason. Mr. Wiley married Miss Aggie Nichols, of Corunna, who survives him, as do two sons and two daughters. He is also survived by a brother. T. M. Wiley of this city, and three sisters, Mrs. S. A. Evens, Owosso, Mrs. J. S. Stockwell. Pontiac, and Mrs. D. J. Ganong, of Waterford. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon from the home of T. M. Wiley and were attended by the Masonic lodges of Owosso and Corunna, the burial services being read at the grave - United States Michigan Owosso Owosso Times 1908 Jul 03 Page 1
